  • Technology making us lose touch with each other?

I remember the days when my phone rang off the hook with people who would like to ask me questions and advise, it seems those days are gone. My phone very rarely rings now and my long distance bill is very manageable, my email box on the other hand is out of control.  In today’s age, the computer generated email is the preferred choice of communication. For the record, I hate email!
To me email is the most impersonal form of communication, a voiceless, faceless void of of letters and numbers. There is no person to communicate with only a cold lifeless machine to reply to. Now for those who do not know me, I am a talker, a big talker. If I am going to talk with someone I at least want to have a voice to converse with and would prefer a face to go with that voice. Email has no expression or passion, the screen does not lighten up with joy when it receives good news, it does not cry when news is sad and does not share in the moment. As I have said in my past posts, I love my technology but when is advancement to much. How do we know when we have gone to far? How much humanity can we take out of the equation until we ourselves lose touch with each other. I find it funny that the very thing that was designed to bring us together is the instrument that distances us from each other.
I am not saying that email is bad thing, but it does raise the question of how much further mankind can push the realm of computerized communication at the expense of first hand contact. Just something to think about.

P.S. Did everyone get my last emailed newsletter ok?
