Barrie Art Club
$240.00 + HST or $450.00+HST Both Workshops

Day One
Participant will work together with Derek to block in their working boards and colour mix their base colours. Day will concentrate on how to isolate colour and mix to accurately match colours. Participants will then be given first hand direction by Derek on the use of blocking in and establishing shape and form. With our working boards blocked in we now learn the process of creating vibrate colour. Participants will learn to use such techniques as layering, drybrush, glazing and stepping.
Day Two
With our working boards blocked in we now learn the process of creating subtle mood in our painting through the use of colour and contrast. Participants will learn to use such techniques as transitional colours, drybrush, glazing and stepping. Day 2 concentrates on the creation of shapes in our sky and tree-lines. Emphasis is placed on the use of "stepping" colour to create a sense of depth in our piece.
Day Three
Participants will learn to render realistic tree and grass on day three. This is the stage were we add subtle detail and strong accent colours to bring our landscape together and make it 'sing'. The day will finish with final detailing and painting in geese pattern in the sky. Each day we will end with an open critique for those that would like to have a piece of their work critiqued. This is voluntary not mandatory but I suggest you take advantage of the opportunity to discuss your work.

Winter Bundle - Lynx Workshop

Winter Bundle Derek C Wicks

This workshop is designed to teach participants how to incorporate both high detail and subtle shape into a painting to create depth with minimal elements. This workshop instructs on the creation of detailed realistic fur and textured snow. It also teaches how to use warm and cool colours to create dramatic lighting in a piece. As many other workshops I teach, we will concentrate on breaking down a painting to basic elements, creating our shape and form and then adding detail.
